Good News: LVTC Teachers and Students Win Third Prize in the 4th Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Speech Contest

LVTC with its teachers and students has won two third prizes in the "Chinese Poetry Interpretation" sub-contest. One is the work A Wanderer's Song, or You Zi Yin, interpreted by Yang Heng under the guidance of Liang Meiying from the higher vocational Chinese teaching team of the School of General Education, winning the third prize in the university and college faculty group. The other is the work Pear Blossoms by East Fence, or Dong Lan Li Hua, interpreted by student Shu Meng from Class 3 of Big Data and Accounting enrolled in 2021 under the guidance of Yang Heng, winning the third prize in the university and college student group. In addition, three other students from LVTC have won recognition awards in the "Chinese Poetry Interpretation" and the "Chinese Classics Recitation" sub-contests.

Among the four sub-contests set up in the 4th Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Speech Contest, the "Chinese Poetry Interpretation" and "Chinese Classics Recitation" were attended by teachers and students under the organization of the higher vocational Chinese teaching team from the School of General Education. The Contest run from April to December 2022, consisting of three stages: provincial preliminary, national semi-final, and national final. With the high attention of leaders from both LVTC and the School of General Education, as well as the unremitting efforts of the higher vocational Chinese teaching team and participating students, all eight entries selected have made it to the national final.

It is reported that the Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Speech Contest is jointly held by the Ministry of Education and the State Language Commission, as well as all provinces, cities, and autonomous regions. It aims to implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on promoting and popularizing the national standard spoken and written Chinese language and carrying forward Chinese excellent traditional culture, and fulfill the Opinions on Implementing the Project of Inheritance and Development of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and General Office of the State Council and the spirit of the national conference on spoken and written Chinese language, allowing students and teachers to draw wisdom and strength from Chinese classics, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, and consolidate their cultural confidence. The Contest has been held four sessions since its first edition in 2019. Running long and fiercely competitive, the event in 2022 saw LVTC's participation for the first time, which is the highest level of its kind that LVTC has ever entered. Under careful guidance from the higher vocational Chinese teaching team of the School of General Education, LVTC students have managed to overcome strong opponents all the way without fear and finally achieved excellent results.
